The African Climate Change Fellowship Program (ACCFP) invites applications for its 2015 round of Fellowships

With funding from International Development Research Centre-Canada (IDRC), the African Climate Change Fellowship Program (ACCFP) provides experiential learning, education, and research and training opportunities to African professionals, researchers and graduate students to enhance their capabilities for advancing and applying knowledge for climate change adaptation in Africa. ACCFP is managed by the Institute of Resource Assessment at the University of Dar Es Salaam (IRA-UDSM) and implemented in partnership with START.

This call solicits applications for Adaptation Science Fellowships and Adaptation Policy Fellowships. African graduate students, early to mid-career professionals, and scientific researchers are eligible to apply. Science Fellowships provide funding to support fellow’s research and stay to a host institution for up to a year. Policy Fellowships, which are tailored specifically for African practitioners working in policy issues related to climate change adaptation, include participation in an intense training institute followed by desk work research activities and initiate the process of engaging policy makers in various ways over a four month period, under the supervision of a mentor. ACCFP applications are particularly encouraged from women and traditionally under-represented regions and countries in Africa.

ACCFP will support clearly defined activities that advance the spirit and objectives of each specific Fellowship type. Fellowships awarded for2015 will range from six to twelve months in duration with maximum award amounts from $2,000 – $14,000 USD, depending on Fellowship type. Fellowships awarded as a result of this call may not begin before 30March 2015, and all Fellowships must be completed by 28February 2016.Within these constraints, the specific timing of each Fellowship will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Applications must be submitted to the ACCFP Secretariat no later than 30th January 2015 (Refer to the information document). This document identifies the goals and objectives of available ACCFP Fellowship types; describes the specific context, challenges and questions to be addressed by 2015 ACCFP Fellows; defines Home and Host Institutions and approaches to identifying appropriate Fellowship Hosts; and provides guidelines for applicant eligibility as well as preparation and submission of online Fellowship applications.
